Feeding America’s “Map the Meal Gap” Study recently found that 1 in 7 people in Central Florida struggle with finding their next meal. Almost half a million people in Central Florida face food insecurity and may need to make trade‐offs between paying for the high cost of housing or medical bills and purchasing nutritionally adequate foods. 1 in 5 children Central Florida food insecure, affecting their ability to learn and develop properly.

Who Can Help?

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects, stores and distributes donated food to more than 550 feeding partners in six Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Last year, with the help of numerous donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributed nearly 58 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, day care centers and Kids Cafes.provided nearly 58 million meals to families, kids and seniors in Central Florida.

The Second Harvest Foodbank of Central Floridaoffers food assistance referrals to over 550 feeding partners that cover six counties in Central Florida. Call their hotline at 407‐295‐5009.
